A mixed release this time. Most of it is about how RoWarden looks when you share it, and how I run the forum.
Link previews
Share a help guide, a forum category or a forum topic and you now get a proper preview card in Discord, X, Slack and the rest. For a topic it shows the title, the first lines of the post, who wrote it and how many replies and likes it has. Before this the help center had no preview image at all, and every forum link showed the same generic card.
While I was in there I gave the help center and forum better titles and descriptions for search engines, added structured data to topics, and put last-changed dates in the forum sitemap. If a font can't be loaded when a preview is drawn, it now falls back to a default one instead of failing.
Pausing the forum
I can now switch posting to replies only (no new topics) or read only (no topics or replies), for the whole forum or for single categories. It's meant for cleanups and for the odd day when something goes wrong. Visitors see a notice at the top of the forum, with a message from me if I wrote one. Reading, likes and reports keep working, nothing is deleted, and I can still post so I can explain what's going on.
Forum posts in Discord
New topics in the public categories are now posted in the RoWarden Discord server, next to the official updates that were already there. Categories that need a sign-in or a staff role are never posted. Reports on posts also go to a private staff channel, so they get looked at sooner.
Daily stats
The numbers I post in Discord each day changed a little:
- Developers now counts only people who own at least one experience.
- Registered users is a new number that counts everybody with an account.
- There's a new line for forum activity: topics and replies from the last 24 hours.
Thanks for using RoWarden.
